TÜV Rheinland tested the complete system: the pitch may be used without supervision, and the doors in the goals are approved as emergency exits. For sites that see a lot of vandalism there are twin-wire mesh panels instead of nets, solid steel goals and lockable doors.

In 2007 the DFB had a simple idea: a pitch within reach for as many children as possible. We built those 1,019, and we've been watching what happens since. The corner of tarmac nobody used is where the school meets at break. The car-park deck has a game on at seven. What we build is steel, mesh and turf. What it does is give a place a reason to come out and play.

With its World Street Series, Borussia Dortmund takes street football to some of the world's most iconic places. After Los Angeles and Tokyo, BVB came to New York on 10 October 2026 and turned Times Square into a black-and-yellow football arena for one day, with a SoccerGround Portable right among the neon signs.
In October 2026, Street Soccer USA opened its first park in Austin, Texas, at Walnut Creek Elementary: the Adam R. Scripps Street Soccer USA Park, the second to carry the Scripps name after San Diego. The Adam R. Scripps Foundation and the 4ATX Foundation are its partners.
As part of the extensive extension and modernisation of the Umweltschule Dissenchen, a primary school, the City of Cottbus is carrying out wide-ranging work on its outdoor areas. Whether at break time, in PE lessons or playing together after school, the Mini-Pitch gives the children plenty of opportunities.
