Kallang, Singapore
On the roof of the CSC @ Tessensohn clubhouse, two teams play football side by side in the middle of Singapore. The Civil Service Club has set up two free-standing SoccerGround Advanced here, each measuring 30 x 15 m.
In a city state like Singapore, space for sport is scarce, and a roof provides it. The boards of the SoccerGround Advanced are free-standing and need no anchoring in the ground, so the roof was left undamaged. Ball-stop nets 4 m high, including the boards, and roof netting at 4 to 5 m keep the ball on the roof. The game is played on artificial turf with goals of 3 x 2 m, and under floodlights in the evening.
Both pitches are run by Stadio Futsal, which also runs the pitch on the Amara Hotel in Tanjong Pagar. Stadio was founded by the former national players V. Sundramoorthy and Marko Kraljevic. The pitches are booked for five-a-side games.
