On 21 May 2013, Piazza Maggiore, the main square in the centre of Bologna, became a football pitch: between Palazzo d'Accursio with its clock tower and Palazzo dei Notai stood a SoccerGround Advanced with artificial turf.
On the pitch, staff of the City of Bologna took on a team of Bologna FC professionals and Italian internationals. Nets all round kept the ball in play, TV cameras were there, and spectators crowded around the boards into the evening.
