Frechen, Germany
The Heinrich-Böll-Schule in Frechen, Germany, is a special education school of the Rhein-Erft district for kids who need support with their emotional and social development. Around 160 kids in grades 1 to 4 learn here. Recess is spread across the school day, so only two or three groups are outside at once, accompanied by the homeroom teachers they know. This gives the kids a strong sense of security. There is plenty more on offer too, such as swimming, equestrian vaulting and soccer clubs.
For soccer and volleyball, there is now a SoccerGround mini-pitch: a SoccerGround Classic, 66' x 33', with a net cage, volleyball equipment and LigaGrass Synergy turf on a shock pad. The dasher boards are faced with artificial turf to reduce noise.
