In June 2011, the Herning Soccer Experimentarium opened at Boldklubben Herning Fremad: an open facility for soccer, play and movement that anyone can use without a club membership or set practice times. For its Football Lab, SoccerGround built a special construction together with Munin Sports, featuring Munin's rebound products.
In the Football Lab, four target frames take the place of teammates: they detect the ball and play it back, while light and sound show where the next pass should go. Every successful pass within 90 seconds scores, the scoreboard shows time and points, and results can be compared online. Players train passing, first touch and quick turns. The Football Lab was developed by the Alexandra Institute together with Munin Sports and Kompan.
The facility received Herning Municipality's building award in 2011 and a bronze medal from the International Olympic Committee in 2013. It was backed by Boldklubben Herning Fremad, Herning Municipality, Lokale- og Anlægsfonden and Realdania.
