Funding a Mini-Pitch Grants, budgets and sponsors

How communities pay for their field

Most mini-pitches are paid for from more than one source: the city's or school district's own budget, a grant, and local sponsors who often find their name on the boards. Who can apply where depends on who owns the site: a city or county, a school, a nonprofit or a club. Here are the routes that are open to any builder, with the funders' own pages.

State park and recreation grants

Every state has its own program for local parks. The pattern is similar: cities, counties and districts apply, they match part of the cost, there is one deadline a year, and the site stays open for public recreation.

Florida: FRDAP

For counties, cities and special districts, up to $200,000. No match up to $50,000, 25% for projects up to $150,000 and 50% above. The cycle for fiscal year 2027-28 closed on October 15, 2026. Florida DEP

North Carolina: PARTF

For counties and municipalities, up to $500,000 with a dollar-for-dollar match. Next deadline: May 3, 2027. NC Parks

Texas: Local Park Grants

For cities, counties and other political subdivisions, with a 50% match, paid as a reimbursement. The yearly deadline is August 1. Texas Parks and Wildlife

Oregon: Local Government Grants

Small grants up to $100,000 and large grants up to $1 million, with a match of 20 to 50% depending on population. Oregon Parks and Recreation

In other states, ask the state's parks or natural resources department for its local park grant program.

Soccer Club Funds

Atlanta United: GA 100

For 501(c)(3) organizations, schools and government entities in Georgia serving under-resourced communities: matching grants up to $100,000 with at least a one-to-one local match, for fields, futsal courts and hard-surface enclosures; mini-pitches at least 60' x 90'. The 2026 timeline has not been announced yet. GA 100 FAQ

FC Cincinnati Foundation: Soccer Field Grant

For nonprofits, recreation centers, schools and businesses with a plan for community access: partial funding for fields and mini-pitches, paid once the project is fully funded. Deadlines are May 31 and November 30. Ask the foundation whether you can choose your builder. FC Cincinnati

Other MLS and NWSL clubs run community programs too; ask your local club's foundation.

Funding Questions

Is there a grant just for mini-pitches?

A few soccer club funds name mini-pitches and futsal courts directly, such as Atlanta United's GA 100 and the FC Cincinnati Foundation's field grant. Most communities combine a state park grant or their own budget with local sponsors.

How much do we have to raise ourselves?

It depends on the program. State park grants often ask for about half of the cost as a local match, Florida's FRDAP asks for less on smaller projects, and GA 100 asks for at least a one-to-one match. Sponsors, donations and in-kind work usually count toward it.

Can we order before the grant is awarded?

Usually not. Many programs only pay for costs after the grant agreement, and some pay as a reimbursement once the project is finished. Plan, get quotes and apply first, then order.

Which documents do we get from SoccerGround?

A quote with all items for your budget, the construction plan with the foundation plan, the specification for the base your local contractor builds, product documents, the TÜV certificate to EN 15312 and photos of reference projects.
