Homeless World Cup 2017 at Oslo City Hall Square

Oslo, Norway

About the project

From August 29 to September 5, 2017, Oslo's City Hall Square was the stage for the Homeless World Cup: more than 500 players from 49 nations competed in the street soccer tournament for people affected by homelessness.

Three fields in front of City Hall

Three fields were built on Rådhusplassen for the tournament. The photo shows the main field, a SoccerGround Portable measuring 72' x 52', in front of a packed grandstand, surrounded by the flags of the competing nations. The tournament was hosted by The Salvation Army (Frelsesarmeen) and opened by Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

The winners

Brazil won the men's final 4–3 against Mexico, and Mexico won the women's tournament. 2017 saw more women's teams take part than ever before since the tournament began.
